I do miss my family, friends, and a clean hospital environment back home, but I have gained a family of amazing gringos, a family of sweet (though occasionally difficult) HondureƱas, and a job from which I learn new things every day. I am blessed to have this unique opportunity, and I am thankful to everyone for being so supportive and helping me throughout the last year and a half.
I've gotten to hike to patients' houses, and to deliver babies in some rural "clinics"; I've seen some pretty gross and unusual things, learned some lessons in parenting thanks to my lovely ladies in the house, and I've learned how to sit still long enough to get office work done... All while getting hit on by the police at least once a day!
Overall, it has been a wonderful year, filled with unusual yet still useful experience. I'm excited to see what new, weird and fun things come up over this next year!
